What can Young People Do to Help?

There is a huge amount young people can do to help combat climate change. Firstly, think of it as if the earth suffering from a fever and needing your help to nurse her back to good heath. That's what the Nurse the Earth is all about. Here's the GWA's guide to ways in which you can do just that. The added bonus to supporting this cruial campaign is you develop leadership skills and make new friends at the same time!

1. Start a Nurse the Earth Committee. Learn about changes to the planet. Talk about them in class and how you can nurse the earth back to good health.

2. Promote energy conservation and efficiency. For example turn off classroom lights when not in use.

3. Don’t waste paper.

4. Recycle packaging. Avoid unnecessary land fill.

5. Don’t change your mobile phone as soon as a new model comes out. Dumped mobiles release toxic gases which affect climate change.

6. Volunteer to help local environmental groups.

7. Don’t waste water. Turn off taps tightly.

8. Plant trees, expand open spaces, and protect wildlife.

9. Write an essay on countryside planning or suggest a Nurse the Earth poster competition.

10. List 'supporting the Nurse the Earth campaign' as one of your hobbies.

11. And remember—the sun is getting stronger. Wear a hat outdoors to take care of yourself. The planet needs you fit and well to take care of her!

12. Follow and support the initiatives of global warming explorers such GWA member The Ice Warrior Jim McNeil

13. Download our Nurse the Earth poster and display it on your classroom wall.

14. Start a Nurse the Earth Library which you can stock with books that explain global warming.
