Arctic Explorer to check on shrinking ice
November 2007
GWA
The Ice Warrior Jim McNeill is seeking volunteers for a range
of expeditions to collect crucial climate change data at the four
North Poles which will benefit organisations like the Global Warming
Alliance who are seeking solutions to the climate change crisis.
Up to forty participants
will be put through an intensive weekend selection process to
see if they have what it takes to be an explorer. Successful applicants
will then undergo their first week of intensive training based
in Norway, from 27th January to 3rd February 2008. They will then
continue through a comprehensive syllabus, training them in every
aspect of Arctic expeditioning which makes them safe and competent
polar travellers and able to endure temperatures of minus fifty
degrees Celsius, polar bears, frost bite and treacherous sea-ice
conditions.
Jim explains, “Having
carefully and extensively analysed previous expedition data we
should be able to detect any significant change in the depletion
of the Arctic ice cap.
Louise Burfitt-Dons
of the GWA says “ It is invaluable to see what impact our
efforts to mitigate climate change are achieving and we welcome
Jim’s research statistics.’
Anyone interested
in volunteering should call Jim McNeill on (44) 1344 883861 or
